Hey, welcome to my outdoor adventure blog.

Ty Treks started as a way to share backpacking trips and trail tips — but like most good treks, the journey behind it is more layered than it looks on the map.

I’m a single dad, a big fan of instant coffee in the backcountry, and someone who finds peace and perspective in the wild. I turn to nature — not to escape, but to clear my head, find adventure, and make lasting memories.

Turns out, hiking with 30+ pounds on your back teaches you a lot about letting go, moving forward, discovering new places, and packing lighter — both literally and emotionally.

What You’ll Find on Ty Treks

This isn’t some hardcore, ultra-light, 50-miles-a-day survivalist blog. I enjoy trekking through beautiful places at my own pace — with snacks that don’t require prep.

Around here, you’ll find:

  • Trip Reports
From desert waterfalls to alpine lakes, I break down the where, the how, and the oops, I definitely took a wrong turn back there moments.

  • Gear & Tips
What I carry, the MVP gear of each trip, and the honest truth on whether that new gadget is worth the hype.

  • Photos
I try to capture the beauty of the places I visit. Even when photos fall short, it’s not for lack of trying.

Why Ty Treks?

Because that’s what this is — me, trekking through life and through whatever’s around the next bend. I’m not here to conquer mountains — I’m here to keep moving forward and soak it all in.

Whether you’re planning your first backpacking trip or just enjoy following along, I’m glad you found your way here.

Let’s get after it

One trek, one post, and one cup of lukewarm trail coffee at a time.
